This activity was very useful for me. I am currently working with Sean, the Head of School at AHS, to schedule observations, and so I have been thinking a lot about what I would like to ask him to look for in my classroom, my practice, and my lessons. At first, I was hesitant to use the map as a way to structure my thoughts, as I am generally a very linear thinker. However, as I dove into the assignment I found that it actually created space for me to develop my ideas, developing them both forwards and backwards, from start to finish and vice versa. In fact, I have even begun to use some of this back-to-front planning language with my students, as we discuss their longer-term goals and the purposes of school for them. |
